YouTube announces possible implementation of NFTs

Through the social network's official blog, YouTube CEO Susan Wojcik explains that her goal for 2022 is to support the platform's content creators. She also mentioned that the company is focusing on Web 3, taking it as a source of inspiration to take new steps in the digital world. This would involve the implementation of cryptography, decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs), and NFTs.

Without a doubt, the social network has created new realities for all users. One example is the famous video "Charlie Bit Me," in which two siblings, a boy and a baby, were the protagonists after a finger bite. This video garnered a large number of views and, now converted into an NFT, sold for a whopping $761,000.

Regarding NFTs, Susan, the blog author, explained, “We’re also looking more toward the future and have been following everything happening in Web3 as a source of inspiration to continue innovating on YouTube. This past year, in the world of cryptocurrencies, non-fungible tokens (NFTs), and even decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs), has highlighted a previously unimaginable opportunity to grow the connection between creators and their fans.”

“We’re always focused on expanding the YouTube ecosystem to help creators capitalize on emerging technologies, including things like NFTs, while continuing to strengthen and improve the experiences that creators and fans have on YouTube,” she added, in the context of future updates for the social network in 2022.
