Instagram has just announced the implementation of subscriptions on the social network. This feature will allow users to pay a monthly fee for exclusive content from creators. Along with this, it opens a door for content creators to benefit from this payment as a source of income, which, as far as we know, would be a monthly payment.
The news was announced through a public statement posted on the Instagram blog. Meta, the parent company of the social network, indicated that the idea is to facilitate income generation on the social network through this tool.
“With Instagram subscriptions, creators can strengthen the connection with their most loyal followers and grow their recurring monthly income, giving their subscribers exclusive access to content and benefits, all within the platform where they already interact,” the social network stated in its announcement.
Starting January 19, a group of content creators in the United States will be able to explore and test the “Subscribe” button on their account profiles. Thanks to this, the creator\'s followers will be able to access exclusive content, such as broadcasts, stories, live streams, etc. And in the meantime, creators will be able to award recognition to their subscribed followers with a virtual badge.
Some of the content creators already known to have this option are @alanchikinchow, @sedona._, @alizakelly, @kelseylynncook, @elliottnorris, @jordanchiles, @jackjerry, @bunnymichael, @donalleniii, and @lonnieiiv.
As the tool iterates through its user experience and partner phases, other countries will be able to enable the option. The social network also indicated that it will not charge any percentage until 2023.
