WhatsApp is rolling out an option for stores

The social messaging network has been rolling out updates for several months to improve the quality of its services. Some of the improvements include a payment system, commerce, a product gallery, and now a new feature for finding nearby businesses based on location (i.e., GPS).

The new tool is still under development, but the company's intended features have already been specifically detailed. Currently, this update is only being tested in Brazil, so it is expected to reach more users globally soon.

The idea is that, through search filters, some nearby establishments can be displayed to inform users. The app would use the location to find these establishments, and in turn, the user would be able to contact the same establishment via WhatsApp. This system is expected to be used by restaurants, supermarkets, clothing stores, and other businesses.

Will Cathcart is the leader of the instant messaging network WhatsApp, and through a tweet he indicated that both the location and the businesses that are within the application. The feature is expected to arrive on Android and iOS operating systems, but it's not yet known when beta testing will begin for other users.
