Cryptocurrencies are already positioned as the future of virtualization and digital worlds. Some time ago, the social network mentioned the creation of a specialized team to conduct studies on blockchain and cryptocurrencies, and today it is implementing certain integrations into its network. Following the news a few months ago about the monetization of the social network, it has taken a rapidly unexpected turn, leading it directly into the world of cryptocurrencies and NFTs. One of its recent updates, which Elon Musk hasn\'t particularly liked, is that Twitter will allow users to use their NFTs as avatars on the social network. NFTs possess a certificate with codes that indicate ownership of a file through a code, which is linked to the owner\'s wallet. To use an acquired NFT, you will need to connect your virtual wallet to the Twitter platform to link the desired image. This image will be displayed in the avatar, which will change to a hexagonal shape exclusively when it is an NFT. Through a thread from @TwitterBlue, the social network announced the following: “You asked for it (a lot), so we made it. Now available in Labs: NFT Profile Pictures on iOS” and subsequently “Ready to show off your NFT? Follow these simple steps to connect your crypto wallet and let’s see your NFT PFPs!”, along with instructional videos for updating your profile picture.

Meanwhile, Elon Musk is criticizing these measures by the social network and the expenses associated with the update, commenting via Twitter, \"Is Twitter spending engineering resources on this while crypto scammers throw a spambot block party on every thread?\"

Twitter is spending engineering resources on this bs while crypto scammers are throwing a spambot block party in every thread!?

What we can infer from this update is that it\'s an exclusive badge for people who own this NFT and who will have to connect their wallets. So we\'ll have to wait and see if users dare to take this step or not.
