Future designs aim to provide a positive user experience when using its platforms. Currently, the new look is in update mode for users, but by mid-2022, it will be the only option available. In the meantime, the new design will be offered to users for testing via a pop-up message in the tool's inbox.

For users who already want to use the revamped platform, Google will begin offering these updates starting February 8. However, those who have already accepted the test will be able to revert to the classic design until April of this year. The option to test the new design will begin to appear for all Gmail users between February 8 and 22.
By mid-year, you won't be able to revert to the familiar design, as Google Chat won't be able to be configured to display on the right side of the Gmail screen. The idea is to better integrate the platforms into Workspace and make interconnection across platforms more user-friendly.
