The Smart Canvas feature has been in effect since 2021 and can be found in Google Docs, Slides, Sheets, and Meet. Its main objective is to promote the rhythm between collaborators' conversations and work.
In Google Workspace's Smart Canvas, users will now have automatic summaries in their documents. They will also be able to collaborate on documents that don't contain Docs pages, freeing up more space in Google Docs.
For summaries in Docs, an general description of the document's items is used. This is intended to quickly analyze the information and prioritize what to focus on. These can be created or edited by a shared team. Meanwhile, the pageless format will create an uninterrupted flow of information for writer-reader communication, in addition to containing spaces for content such as images and tables.
These updates are currently being implemented within a maximum of 15 days. They will also be available to legacy G Suite Basic and Business users. The company adds that as progress progresses, they will look into new capabilities provided by Artificial Intelligence (AI).
