"Facebook is one of the most used products in the history of the world. It's an iconic social network, but little by little it hasn't been able to channel everything we do," the entrepreneur explained during the presentation of the new branding.
While the social network will continue to exist and operate as such, its company name will become Meta. This is an online world where you can do activities such as work, play, and communicate with virtual friends, all in the same place thanks to virtual reality.
Regarding the Metaverse, Zuckerberg explained that “The vision encompasses many companies, the entire industry. You can think of it as the successor to the mobile internet. And it's certainly not something that any one company is going to build, but I think a big part of our next chapter, hopefully, will be helping to build that, in partnership with many other companies, creators, and developers,” the company owner stated.
Other companies, such as Epic Games, have already spent $1 billion to create this metaverse, which aims to connect human beings through virtual reality to coexist as if they were in the real world.
