Instagram begins testing to add music to posts

Music is an attractive addition to video content, as the social network already allows and offers the option to use music for stories and reels. This could also pave the way for users to add songs to feed posts.

As usual, the social network began testing among a certain segment of its audience. The chosen location to test its new features is India. This country's audience is no small one, as it concentrates a large part of Instagram's general audience.

The music feature is currently in an experimental period. Some Indian users have already reported the form and option in which the new music segment will be found, which would look something like this:

As we can see, the dynamics are no different from what is currently used to add music to a feed post. The path is clear to easily reach the creation process: add the photo, edit it if the audience likes it, and then add tags, location, labels, and finally music.

To allow social media users to choose the specific song fragment they wish to use, the steps used worldwide for Stories or Reels are followed.

In addition to India, a few other countries are part of the new trial. There are no official announcements yet, so the specific launch date depends on how it works.

The possibilities of this tool are attractive, as it will allow official music to be added to posts, whether from individuals or publications dedicated to the commercial sector. When the public uploads a clip with music for commercial use without the proper license, the system considers this as a reason to remove the content. This is also the case on Facebook. With the new option, the song can be used legally, as long as it is included in the social media platform's catalog of licenses.
