The company is implementing the integration of two photo and/or video display options, in addition to the current layout.
Adam Mosseri, Instagram's CEO, told us through social media before closing out 2021 that the company had new goals for modifying its tools. Yesterday, Wednesday, Mosseri again addressed the updates, this time regarding the chronological order, saying “We are beginning to test the ability to switch between three different views on your home screen, two of which would give you the option to view posts in chronological order.”
The new subdivisions are integrated into the app's Home screen, which with this update has three options to select from: home, following, and favorites. Two of these would offer the “chronological order” tool, so the user can choose how to view the feed. The favorites” tool would allow you to view a feed through favorites, that is, a list of selected people whose content you can see exclusively in the new section.

We’re starting to test the ability to switch between three different views on your home screen (two of which would give you the option to see posts in chronological order):
- Home
- Favorites
- Following
We hope to launch these soon. More to come. ?? pic.twitter.com/9zvB85aPSp
There is no set date yet for the official arrival of this new update for all mobile devices, as it is still in the testing period. Specifically, the experiments are being done on Apple iPhones.
