Instagram is implementing enhanced security measures to protect users, especially minors. The company\'s latest step to safeguard this age group is to make their accounts private. One of the measures taken by its competitor, TikTok, was to make the profiles of underage users private. By making these profiles private, a protective barrier is created around the user, as they can accept or reject follow requests, and their profile will not be easily accessible to other users. This is not the only measure Instagram will adopt. Accounts reported by minors will be automatically blocked and prevented from interacting with other accounts belonging to teenagers. This measure is more drastic and will prevent contact between individuals whose behavior is inappropriate and minors. Instagram\'s new measures are being applied to newly created accounts belonging to underage users, although existing accounts will also be informed about the implications of having a private account. Both Instagram and TikTok are seeking to create a safe space for their users, especially for those who are under 18.
