Instagram has incorporated new tools to combat comments and messages containing racist, sexist, homophobic, and generally harassing content.
The social network announced that it will take stronger measures to prevent the spread of comments and direct messages that harass and promote hate speech. This will be achieved with a new feature called Limits, which restricts who can comment on a post or send a direct message to its author.
With the new update, users can choose to prevent comments on their posts from users who don\'t follow them, or who have recently followed them. The blocking also applies to direct message requests.
Filtered Words is another option that allows users to hide offensive comments and message requests. Additionally, users can create a list of words, phrases, and emojis that they don\'t want to see in interactions with their posts or accounts.
In the case of direct messages, if Instagram detects offensive content, it sends them to a folder to remain hidden. Additionally, warnings will be implemented that will appear when people are about to comment on a post using inappropriate, abusive, or disrespectful terms.
