Smart Canvas is a collaborative work product from Workspace that includes timelines, task lists, and Meet integration in Docs, among other features. The latest implementation is a tool that allows users to visualize work progress through a function that shows what each collaborator has accomplished within Workspace.
The Smart Canvas feature has been available since 2021 and can be found in Google Docs, Slides, Sheets, and Meet. Its main objective is to improve the flow between collaborators\' conversations and work.
With Google Workspace Smart Canvas, users will now automatically receive summaries in their documents. Additionally, collaboration will be possible on documents that don\'t contain Docs pages, freeing up more storage space in Google.
For Docs, summaries provide an overview of the document\'s items, allowing for quick analysis of information and prioritization of areas for focus. These can be created or edited by a collaborative team. Meanwhile, the pageless format will create an uninterrupted flow of information for communication between writer and reader, in addition to providing space for content such as images and tables.
These updates are currently being implemented and are expected to be rolled out within a maximum of 15 days. They will also be available to users of legacy G Suite Basic and Business. The company adds that as development progresses, they will focus on new capabilities offered by Artificial Intelligence (AI).
